Sean UrdaOn January 26th, in his senior year of high school, East Northport’s Sean Urda tragically lost his life in a snow tubing accident. A longtime LIJSL player, Sean loved the game of soccer.

“Sean’s greatest passions in life were family, friends and soccer,” said his dad and travel coach Gary Urda. “He was looking forward to playing soccer in college.”

To honor Sean’s memory, the family has established the Sean Urda Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund. The goal is to leave a legacy in his name, honoring the game he loved by awarding annual scholarships to deserving soccer players who live their life as Sean did – bringing joy to others.
“Sean loved soccer,” his dad added. “He was a center back and captain of both his school and club teams, and got his start in the LIJSL as a member of the Northport Attack.”

The family’s love of soccer carries on through Sean’s younger brother Luke, who plays for the BU11 Elwood Knights.
Those who are interested in learning more about the fund can visit on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SeanUrdaMemorialSoccerScholarship. Information on how to contribute can be found at http://www.gofundme.com/l01mz8.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Urda Family in their time of loss, and we urge our LIJSL clubs, teams, and families to offer their support the Sean Urda Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund.
